Three species of pangolin are being sold all around Cameroon on a daily basis, despite being fully protected by law. In 2021, Tikki Hywood Foundation (THF) signed an MoU with the Ministry of Forestry (MINFOF) to assist in the protection of pangolins in Cameroon. This PCF grant will help cover the costs for the active patrols done by the Anti-Poaching Unit and for the confiscation of live pangolins in roadside bushmeat markets and bring them to the THF rehabilitation Centre in Mefou. These funds will also cover the costs for release of pangolins into protected areas and for the training of the Anti-Poaching Unit Rangers on how to provide first responder’s care.
