Creating Sustainable Habitat for Palawan Pangolins and People

Grantee Katala Foundation Incorporated
Type Protecting Pangolin Landscapes
Grant Amount $106,590
Duration 2 years

The Palawan pangolin has the smallest range of all eight species of pangolins. It is endemic to the Philippines, and restricted to the Palawan group of islands. Katala Foundation Incorporated (KFI) will demonstrate that pangolin conservation goes hand-in-hand with the socio-economic needs of the local communities at a pilot site in the municipality of Roxas. With PCF funding, KFI will meet with local stakeholders to talk about threats to pangolins and their habitat, improve education and awareness, address knowledge gaps in pangolin biology and ecology, and assist in the improvement of the socio-economic status of farmers.
