Building Pride for Pangolins in Nigeria

Type Campaigns to Promote Pangolins
Grant Amount $18,471
Duration 2 months

Nigeria has become a major hotspot for the illegal pangolin trade, with massive shipments of pangolin scales being illegally exported from the country. To build public and political will for pangolins in Nigeria, AFRINET is partnering with the African Pangolin Working Group and the Pangolin Conservation Guild Nigeria to host a multifaceted campaign around World Pangolin Day. The Pangolin Crisis Fund is supporting a conference around tackling pangolin trafficking in Nigeria and an array of World Pangolin Day awareness raising events to celebrate pangolins in traditional Nigerian culture: through masquerades, music, and dance, and nation-wide radio programming.
