First Lady Margaret Kenyatta recently pledged her support of efforts to protect pangolins throughout Kenya in a major win for pangolin conservation. This auspicious announcement is thanks in part to The Pangolin Project, a PCF grantee that has spent years helping to bring pangolin conservation to the attention of the Kenyan government and make it a part of the national agenda.
First Lady Kenyatta met with The Pangolin Project in Nairobi, where they spoke with her about the importance of protecting pangolins throughout Kenya. The First Lady, who is already a staunch patron of elephant anti-poaching campaigns, commended The Pangolin Project for their impressive dedication to pangolin conservation and promised to support their efforts on a national scale. Pangolins remain some of the most endangered animals in the world, so commitment to protect them from such a high government figure is truly significant.
